    Beschreibung

    This Rubicon plastic kit optionally builds a Soviet SU-122 assault howitzer or an SU-85 self-propelled gun on a T-34 chassis. Included are 59 parts on 3 sprues with open hatches, movable gun elevation, and optional fuel cans.

    The SU-122 served as an assault gun with a 122mm howitzer from late 1942; the SU-85 followed in 1943 as a tank destroyer with an 85mm gun. The model comes unpainted and unassembled and requires ABS glue.

    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    The SU-122 was a Soviet self-propelled howitzer or assault gun of World War II. It used the T-34 chassis and carried a 122 mm M-30S howitzer; initial design work on the U-35 prototype was completed in August 1942. Production began in December 1942 and continued until the summer of 1944. The SU-85 was also based on the SU-122/T-34 chassis, entered production in mid-1943, and was intended as a tank destroyer with an 85 mm D-5S gun.

    Einsatz im Spiel

    In the game, the SU-85 / SU-122 SPG is primarily an anti-tank or tank destroyer option. The model is most effective when controlling fire corridors and threatening enemy vehicles at range. In Bolt Action / Achtung Panzer! / Chain of Command, it should be used with cover, positional play, and concentrated fire.
