    Background & context

    The Crusader was fast: in the desert sand it reached speeds no German tank could match, and that was exactly what made it popular with British crews. The 2-pounder gun, by contrast, was too weak from the outset, and the machinery did not take to dust and heat at all. With the 6-pounder it was finally a match for the Panzer III and IV. From the end of 1942 Grant and Sherman pushed it out of the front rank, after which it served as an anti-aircraft carrier and gun tractor.

    On the tabletop

    The box builds one of six Crusaders for North Africa. The Mk I and Mk II with the 2-pounder gun are fast cruiser tanks for flanking moves, and as CS versions they carry a 3-inch howitzer for close support. The Mk III with its 6-pounder can take on early Panzer IIIs and IVs. The AA version protects your force against aircraft. The auxiliary turret, three styles of side skirts and a rear fuel tank are build options.
