Beschreibung

The T-34/85 was the further development of the Soviet T-34, produced from 1944 onwards, featuring a larger 85mm gun. The Rubicon plastic kit contains 50 parts on 3 sprues and can be built as a Model 1943 or 1944, optionally also as an OT-34/85 flamethrower tank.

The improved T-34/85 became the standard Soviet medium tank by the end of the war and remained in service with many armies even after 1945. The model comes unassembled and unpainted; ABS glue is required.

Hintergrund & Einordnung

The T-34/85 was developed in response to stronger German armor, particularly after the appearance of the Tiger I on the Eastern Front. The early T-34's 76.2mm gun was no longer sufficient against the Tiger's frontal armor; therefore, an 85mm gun based on the 52-K anti-aircraft gun was developed for tank use. Production of the new main version began in 1944. Rubicon states that a total of over 57,300 T-34 vehicles were built by the end of 1945, of which 22,609 were T-34/85s.

Einsatz im Spiel

In the game, the T-34/85 - Mid & Late War forms an armored combat unit for direct fire support and movement onto mission objectives. The tank can accompany infantry, engage enemy vehicles, and put pressure on key terrain sections. In Bolt Action / Achtung Panzer! / Chain of Command, it is a flexible component for tank or combined arms battle groups.
