Die Dropside-Bauweise war der Grund, warum solche Wagen überall auftauchten: Drei Bordwände lassen sich wegklappen, dann wird von jeder Seite beladen. Bauernhöfe, Kohlenhändler und Kleinspeditionen fuhren sie zu Tausenden. Nach Dünkirchen zählte in Großbritannien jedes Fahrzeug, das rollte, und Home Guard wie Nachschubeinheiten übernahmen zivile Pritschenwagen ohne jeden Umbau.

On the tabletop

This civilian Bedford with drop sides suits Bolt Action games set in Britain after Dunkirk, when the Home Guard and supply units took over such trucks without any conversion. On the table it serves as an unarmoured transport or as scenery for village and street fighting. You can fill the open bed with a load of your own and use it as an objective. No camouflage is needed, as the truck can keep its civilian paint scheme.
