A coach house and a chicken coop, the kind of outbuildings found on Norman farms. Both come UV-printed in full colour, and the coach house has a removable roof and room inside.

Background & context

Norman farms lay scattered across the bocage, a landscape of small fields, tall hedgerows and sunken lanes. Besides the farmhouse, a farm had coach houses for carts and tools and sheds for small livestock. After the landings in June 1944 almost every one of these farms became a strongpoint, because the solid walls gave shelter and the hedgerows slowed the Allied advance field by field.

On the tabletop

The coach house holds a whole infantry squad or a small vehicle: lift off the roof, place your models inside and put the roof back. You choose whether to build the doors open or closed. The chicken coop, 10 x 4 cm in footprint, stands beside it as an outbuilding. Together they form a small farmyard to set up a Bolt Action game in Normandy 1944.
