Background & context

With the Soviet counter-offensive in November 1942, the 6th Army was encircled between the Volga and the Don. German soldiers held out in the ruins of the city through the winter, with dwindling supplies, bitter cold and constant shelling. At the end of January and beginning of February 1943 the last parts of the pocket surrendered, among them the troops in the city centre around the department store.

On the tabletop

The right section closes off the store on its second side and forms a corner with the front, where squads can gather under cover. Spread over two floors, your riflemen cover the side street and the flank of the building. On its own the piece works as a mid-height ruin in any Stalingrad street. The front and left sections are available separately and complete the Univermag.
