Background & context

Witold Urbanowicz was one of the outstanding Polish fighter pilots who continued to fight in the service of the Royal Air Force after the invasion of their homeland. As an experienced pilot, he brought an extraordinary combination of flying skill and fighting spirit. The Hawker Hurricane was the most numerous British fighter aircraft during the Battle of Britain and contributed significantly to the defense of the airspace over Northwestern Europe. Polish pilots like Urbanowicz were considered particularly motivated and battle-hardened airmen within the RAF units.

On the tabletop

Witold Urbanowicz was one of the Polish pilots who reached Britain via France after September 1939 and flew Hurricanes in the Battle of Britain in the summer of 1940. With his ace card, an ace skill card and a trait card he leads your Hurricane squadron in Blood Red Skies. Polish squadrons were among the most successful units of the RAF at the time, so he fits any Battle of Britain scenario. The model is plastic.
