Background & context

For the Wehrmacht, fuel was a harder currency than ammunition. From 1944, when the Romanian oil fields were lost and the synthetic fuel plants were under bombardment, the contents of the tanks decided whether a Panzer battalion could take the field at all. Fuel drum depots were therefore placed far to the rear, camouflaged and dispersed, and were still a favoured target for fighter-bombers. Four drums at the edge of the gaming table give exactly this picture.

On the tabletop

Four fuel drums with screw caps are enough for a small fuel dump beside vehicles or a field workshop. In a game they make an objective one side must hold and the other must destroy. There is a historical reason for that: from 1944 fuel often decided whether a German panzer battalion could go into action at all. The resin drums come unpainted, so fresh paint or rust and grime is up to you.
