Background & context

Die Rosenkriege waren kein Volksaufstand, sondern ein Streit zweier Zweige des Hauses Plantagenet, ausgetragen mit den bewaffneten Haushalten des Adels. Wer einem Lord folgte, trug dessen Livree, und wechselte der Lord die Seite, wechselte das ganze Aufgebot mit. Gekämpft wurde in kurzen, brutalen Feldschlachten wie Towton oder Bosworth, fast immer zu Fuß: Der Langbogen eröffnete, die Bill entschied das Handgemenge.

On the tabletop

Bow and bill were the basic equipment of English foot soldiers in the Wars of the Roses, and these 40 figures give you both. Up to 30 archers open the fight at range, up to 18 billmen then take over in close combat, and four fully armoured figures lead the retinue. The force suits Lancaster as well as York, and your paint sets the lord's livery. That lets you refight battles such as Towton or Bosworth.
