Product details

Background & context

Gallic warriors are relevant in the context of ancient warfare in Western Europe and Gaul. Celtic warrior bands appeared in many conflicts against Rome, the Greeks, and other neighbours and became known for aggressive close-quarters combat. Such troops were used in armies characterized by different weapons, degrees of protection, and tactical roles. For tabletop armies, the set forms a clear historical building block for Gallic and Celtic armies. The classification is based on the troop type depicted and the historical framework described by the manufacturer.

On the tabletop

The 42 unarmoured warriors with javelin, spear and sword fill the ranks of your Gallic army, with four armoured leaders and standard bearers at their head. Their strength is the first onslaught, so you send them forward fast and in a mass against the enemy line. If the enemy holds, things get hard for them. As allies or mercenaries they fight for Carthage and the Successors, and as Britons you set them against the legions of the early Empire.
