Product details

Background & context

The Caetrati are situated in the context of ancient warfare on the Iberian Peninsula. Iberian warriors used terrain, mobility, and ambushes to stand against Roman legions and other adversaries. Such troops were employed in armies characterized by diverse weapons, levels of protection, and tactical roles. For tabletop armies, the set provides a clear historical building block for Iberian Hail Caesar contingents and opposing Roman armies. The classification is based on the troop type depicted and the historical framework described by the manufacturer.

On the tabletop

With their small round shield the caetrati are the light skirmishers of your Iberian army in Hail Caesar or Clash of Spears, and they can also serve as allies of Carthage. Iberian tribes used their rugged land for swift raids on Roman legions, and that is how you use these eight figures: strike from hills and woods and pull back before the reply. Behind them stand the warriors of the main line with the longer scutum.
