Clunky and unwieldy, but undisputed in its effectiveness - unlike other nations, the Soviets primarily see their Heavy Infantry as an anti-vehicle unit with a dual weapon system.

Hintergrund & Einordnung

In the '47 conflict universe, the Soviet Union reacted to the emergence of German and American Heavy Armour with hastily developed suits of their own - crude, uncomfortable, but mass-producible. The Mk-I suits were based on a reverse-engineered powerpack from tank armor and, in large numbers, were a powerful element. Unlike other nations, which primarily view Heavy Infantry as an anti-infantry unit, the Soviet Union consistently used them for anti-tank warfare: The dual weapon system combines a short assault weapon with a heavy anti-tank launcher. Slow, but tough and with high damage potential, they are the central anvil against which the Soviet hammer falls.

Einsatz im Spiel

The Soviet Heavy Infantry is the standard Soviet Power Armour unit. With 10 models per box, it forms a complete Heavy-Squad in the typical Red Army Power Armour. In the game, they have Tough/Slow Special Rules and are ideal front-line units in Heavy-Storm Regiments. Tactics: Advance together with Walker-Support, then Hold-and-Fire with their heavy armament against anti-personnel and light vehicle targets.
