Die angelsächsischen Königreiche kannten keine schwere Reiterei nach fränkischem Muster. Pferde waren Statussymbol und Transportmittel: Man ritt zum Sammelpunkt, stieg ab und stellte sich in Reihe. Wo Reiter trotzdem beritten kämpften, taten sie es leicht - Aufklärung, Verfolgung und Plünderzüge im Grenzland gegen Waliser und Skoten. Genau dieses begrenzte, aber unverzichtbare Aufgabenfeld füllt leichte Kavallerie auch auf dem Spieltisch.

On the tabletop

Anglo-Saxon warriors usually rode only to the battlefield and then fought on foot; it was mainly light horsemen who stayed mounted. In Hail Caesar these three metal figures take on exactly their tasks: scouting, probing the enemy flank and chasing fugitives. You can also hold them back and launch a charge at the decisive moment. Opponents in the border lands were the Welsh and the Scots.
