Product details

Background & context

Long before the katana became the symbol, the warrior's profession was called kyūba no michi, the way of bow and horse. The asymmetrically built yumi was the main weapon of the bushi, and marksmanship was regarded as a mark of rank that was practised for a lifetime. Only in the 16th century did the musket take its place alongside, without displacing the bow, which shot faster and also worked in the rain.

On the tabletop

These 24 samurai are missile troops of the warrior class, armed during assembly with the yumi bow, the teppo musket or a mix of both. For a long time the bow was regarded as the true weapon of the samurai, and the musket only joined it in the 16th century. The bow shoots faster and still works in the rain, while the musket is effective in volleys. Use the unit against key targets such as enemy leaders or cavalry, in 28 mm scale.
