Product details

Background & context

Roman travel coaches stand in the context of ancient warfare in the Roman Empire. Roads, wagons, and means of transport were an important part of Roman infrastructure and mobility. Such troops were used in armies characterized by different weapons, levels of protection, and tactical roles. For tabletop armies, the set forms a clear historical building block for scenarios, civilian accompanying models, and Roman game tables. The classification is based on the troop type depicted and the historical framework described by the manufacturer.

On the tabletop

This Roman travelling coach with two horses and three figures is not a fighting model in Hail Caesar but an objective. An envoy, a hostage or valuable cargo has to get through on the road while your opponent tries to intercept it. Wealthy Romans travelled the empire in four-wheeled carriages with luggage and escort, and away from the garrisons attacks on travellers were part of everyday life. All parts are metal.
