Product details

Background & context

Many 18th century forts in North America were built from the timber of the surrounding forests, with palisades of sharpened logs, blockhouses and lookout posts. The gate was the weakest point of such a position and was often protected by a gatehouse of its own. During the War of Independence these frontier forts served as bases against raids, as supply depots and as rallying points for militia.

On the tabletop

Set the gatehouse into a line of palisades to decide where supplies and attackers get into the fort. Combined with the straight palisade walls and corner units from Skytrex, you can build the fort as large as your scenario needs. In sieges and assaults the gate becomes the focal point, as this is where attacking columns meet the defenders. Keep your best troops close to it.
