Product details

Background & context

For centuries, weekly markets were the main place where farmers sold fruit and vegetables in European towns and villages. In wartime food grew scarce, and ration cards and rationing were common in many places. Armies of every era relied on whatever the surrounding country could provide, so full crates and baskets were a welcome find for hungry soldiers.

On the tabletop

Stack the crates outside a shop or on a market square so the street looks inhabited. Loaded onto a cart or truck, they suggest a supply run you can use as a scenario objective. Single baskets can also be spread across gateways and doorsteps. Because the pieces are small, you can move them freely without blocking movement.
