Product details

Background & context

An army of the pike and shot era dragged a second one behind it: wagons with powder, lead, bread, beer and fodder, along with craftsmen, traders and families. This column was slow, barely armed and the most rewarding find of the day for enemy horse. Camps were therefore often entrenched and placed under a company of musketeers. At Naseby in 1645 the royal baggage, papers and all, fell into the hands of the enemy.

On the tabletop

Twelve wagons and carriages, 18 shacks and stalls and seven camp followers and sentries let you build a complete baggage camp behind your line in Epic Battles scale. The baggage was a valuable prize for enemy horse and was therefore often fortified or guarded by musketeers. In Pike & Shotte Epic Battles you place the camp in the rear and make it the target of a cavalry raid, posting sentries against it.
