Background & context

The de Havilland Mosquito was one of the most versatile British aircraft designs of World War II - equally adaptable as a fighter-bomber, night fighter, and reconnaissance aircraft. Its wooden construction gave it an exceptional power-to-weight ratio and made it a serious threat to enemy bombers and fighters. Pilot Charles 'Pick' Pickard was one of the most famous RAF airmen of his time, leading some of the daring low-level operations over occupied Western Europe. Pickard embodied the type of determined, experienced commanding officer who combined tactical precision with personal commitment.

On the tabletop

Charles 'Pick' Pickard flew daring low-level raids over occupied Western Europe in the Mosquito, the best known being the attack on Amiens prison in February 1944. In Blood Red Skies you put his Mosquito, with its own ace card, an ace skill card and a trait card, at the head of your Mosquito squadron. The fast wooden aircraft outruns German fighters and suits scenarios built around precision strikes. Base and pilot discs are part of the set.
