Product details

Background & context

The Mosin Nagant M91/30 dates from the Tsarist era and still remained a serviceable sniper rifle into the 1970s: with the PE telescopic sight it hit reliably at several hundred metres. The PAVN received the rifles from Soviet and Chinese stocks and trained its marksmen differently from the guerrillas in the south: by the book, in two-man teams with a spotter and with set alternate positions. In the dense green of Vietnam, patience mattered more than range.

On the tabletop

A marksman with a Mosin-Nagant M91/30 and his spotter with binoculars form the sniper team of the North Vietnamese army. Both stand on a shared 60 mm base, which you place in dense cover with a wide view in your Vietnam War games. From there the team picks out single targets such as leaders or radio operators and ties down more of the enemy than its size suggests. After a few shots you move to another position, as PAVN training required.
