Product details

Background & context

From 1943 the Germans built Panther turrets into permanent positions, most of them made for the purpose with a thicker roof against artillery. Some sat on concrete bases, others on steel substructures housing ammunition and crew quarters below. By March 1945 there were 268 installations, most of them on the Atlantic Wall and the Westwall, others on the Gothic and Hitler Lines in Italy and in the east. Well camouflaged, little more than the turret showed above ground.

On the tabletop

In Bolt Action the Pantherturm counts as a vehicle with the damage value of a heavy tank. It carries a super-heavy anti-tank gun with a co-axial MMG, is always in hard cover and treats immobilised results as crew stunned. It can never move, but in return it is always deployed at the start, up to 12 inches from your table edge. Selectors such as Defence of the West Wall count it as a tank.
