Product details

Background & context

On the islands of the Pacific there was seldom much left of settlements. Before every major assault naval artillery and bombers hammered the coastal strips for days, and whatever was still standing afterwards was taken apart in street fighting, Manila in 1945 being the best-known example. What remained were stumps of wall, open roof timbers and rubble in which defenders dug themselves in, because a ruin offers more firing positions than an undamaged house.

On the tabletop

This L-shaped ruin shows what was left of an island settlement after days of naval gunfire and bombing. Move figures in through the open walls from several sides and let them dig in among the remains. Together with the intact version of the same floor plan you can show a place before and after the assault, for instance for street fighting like Manila in 1945. It comes as laser-cut MDF with instructions.
