Product details

Background & context

On the tabletop

In the siege trains of Macedonian and Hellenistic armies, the onager was the stone thrower used against walls, roofs and camps. Its single throwing arm lobs stones in a high arc, sometimes wrapped in flammable material. In Hail Caesar you field it with its Hellenistic crew for sieges of fortresses and towns, for example modelled on the siege of Rhodes by Demetrius. Against individual targets in the field, the ballista is the more accurate engine.
