Product details

Background & context

In September 1944, Operation Market Garden aimed to seize the bridges over the Maas, Waal and Rhine in the Netherlands. At Nijmegen, American paratroopers and British tanks fought for days over the large road bridge across the Waal. The bridge only fell on 20 September, after US troops had crossed the river in boats. The advance came to a halt shortly afterwards before Arnhem.

On the tabletop

Lay the bridge across a river in the middle of the table and the objective is set: whoever holds it at the end wins. Vehicles roll over the roadway while infantry advance along the walkways. Through the gaps in the parapet your troops fire on attackers and are fired on in turn. Set up apart, the two sections become the approaches of two bridges, for example for a Bolt Action game on the Western Front.
