Product details

Background & context

Egypt's New Kingdom is set in the context of ancient warfare in Egypt and the Levant. The 18th to 20th Dynasties were characterized by expansion, border wars, and conflicts with powers in Canaan, Syria, and Nubia. Such troops were used in armies characterized by different weapons, levels of protection, and tactical roles. For tabletop armies, the set provides a clear historical building block for Late Bronze Age Egyptian armies. The classification is based on the troop type depicted and the historical framework described by the manufacturer.

On the tabletop

Eight javelinmen of the Egyptian New Kingdom provide the light foot troops alongside your chariots in Hail Caesar or Clash of Spears. Unarmoured, they move ahead of the main line, drive off enemy skirmishers and clear ground that chariots must avoid. After a victory they take up the pursuit. They suit the campaigns from Thutmose III to the battle of Kadesh under Ramesses II.
