Background & context

The Medium Archers represent the regular infantry and militia of the Amorite city-states and the Neo-Sumerian successor states of the early second millennium BC. In Babylonian sources, they held the title Sabum Qallatum. These archers accompanied the heavy spearmen of the Kassite, Middle Assyrian, and Mitannian armies of the late Bronze Age and constituted an important ranged component in the battles of the Ancient Near East. They can also be deployed in Elamite armies of the Middle Period as a complement to Levy Archers.

On the tabletop

These eight archers represent the regular bowmen of the Amorite and Neo-Sumerian city-states in Hail Caesar, known in early Babylon as the Sabum Qallatum. Place them beside your medium spearmen, with whom they took the field, and shoot at the enemy before the lines meet. They also fit Kassite, Middle Assyrian and Mitannian armies of the Late Bronze Age. In Elamite armies you mix them with levy archers.
