    The M8 armoured car was chosen as the ideal platform for the new Tesla weapon, replacing the outdated 37mm cannons. The M8A3 'Tesla Scout' went into series production in late 1946 and quickly became a valuable asset for US reconnaissance forces - fast, agile, and with a Tesla cannon that punched far above its weight.

    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    The M8 armored car was, in its conventional version, an agile reconnaissance vehicle, but its 37mm cannon was obsolete. When Tesla technology matured, the US Army recognized its potential: an M8 with a Tesla cannon would not only serve as a scout but also be able to independently engage enemy light vehicles and armored infantry. The M8A3 'Tesla Scout' became an indispensable asset for US reconnaissance forces by late 1946.
