Background & context

Zwischen 1450 und 1500 entschied selten die schwere Reiterei allein, wo eine Schlacht überhaupt stattfand. Das taten die leichten Reiter, die Tage vorher die Wege abritten, Boten abfingen und Vorräte wegnahmen. In den Rosenkriegen sicherten sie Märsche, in Burgund und Ungarn ritten sie Überfälle tief ins gegnerische Hinterland. Bewaffnet waren sie mit dem, was verfügbar war: kurze Lanze, Armbrust oder Bogen.

On the tabletop

You build twelve lightly armoured riders with light lance, crossbow or horse bow, with command figures and banners included. In the late 15th century they were the troops for everything around a battle: riding the roads, catching messengers, securing marches. On the table they threaten flanks and supplies, and the mounted shooters engage the enemy on the move. For the formed charge they work alongside mounted men-at-arms of the Wars of the Roses or Burgundy.
