Background & context

Levy Javelinmen of the Early and Middle Bronze Age formed the common infantry of Mesopotamian city-states such as Sumer, Akkad, and early Syrian urban cultures. Unprotected, without shields, and lightly clad in knee-length kilts, they were employed as skirmishers and light support troops in regular city-state armies or as warriors in nomadic confederations. These miniatures from the Cutting-Edge range are suitable for armies of the Sumerians, Akkadians, Amorites, Hyksos, early Hebrews, as well as Syro-Canaanite city-states and other Bronze Age cultures.

On the tabletop

In a kilt, with no shield or armour and a few javelins in hand: that is how the ordinary foot warrior between the Nile, the Euphrates and the Taurus looked for a long time. So in Hail Caesar you can field these eight figures for Sumer, Akkad, the Amorites, the Hyksos, the Kassites, Mitanni, the Syro-Canaanite city-states or the early Hebrews. As forward skirmishers they throw, disrupt the enemy's approach and then clear the way for your own line.
