Product details

Background & context

The Guard and Marine troops of the late New Kingdom served in the armies of the 19th and 20th Dynasties under pharaohs such as Ramesses II and his successors.

On the tabletop

In the later New Kingdom, guard units like these were the pharaoh's standing troops. The eight figures wear scale armour jerkins over their kilts and fight with throwing spear and sword, so they throw at short range and then close in for hand-to-hand fighting. In Hail Caesar you use them as an armoured core between levies and archers. In scenarios based on the battle against the Sea Peoples in the Nile Delta around 1175 BC, they fight as the crews of the ships.
