Background & context

Die späte Phase des Neuen Reiches ist die Zeit der Ramessiden. Ramses II. zog 1274 v. Chr. bei Kadesch gegen die Hethiter, sein späterer Namensvetter Ramses III. schlug rund hundert Jahre danach die Seevölker an Delta und Küste zurück. Die Heere dieser Epoche waren bunt zusammengesetzt: ägyptische Bogenschützen und Speerträger kämpften neben scherdenischen, libyschen und nubischen Söldnern. Zusammengehalten wurden solche Verbände von Offizieren und Trägern, die das Feldzeichen ihrer Division vorantrugen.

On the tabletop

As the command base of your Ramesside Egyptians in Hail Caesar, these four figures on foot mark the centre of your archers and spearmen. With this group you lead a division that you can bolster with Sherden, Libyan or Nubian mercenaries, as the armies of the time did. Fitting battles are Kadesh in 1274 BC against the Hittites and the repulse of the Sea Peoples under Ramesses III. All figures are metal.
