    Product details

    Background & context

The archers of the later Highland peoples represent the warriors of the Middle and Late Bronze Age from the Zagros, Taurus, and Anatolian highland regions. These peoples included Hurrians, Turukkeans, early Kassites, and Gasganer, as well as early Hittites. The figures wear the mountain attire typical for these mountain peoples, including boots - practical equipment for the rough terrain of the Anatolian highlands. Armed with the early simple curved composite bow, they could be deployed both in pure highland armies and as mercenaries in the armies of regular city-states and great empires of the Bronze Age.

    On the tabletop

With the early composite bow and wearing boots, these eight hill archers provide the missile troops of the highland peoples. Hurrians, Turukkaeans, early Kassites, Kaska and early Hittites all raised such men, and those who did not fight them hired them. So in Hail Caesar you can field them as the contingent of a hill people or as mercenaries in almost any Bronze Age army. Unarmoured, they do best shooting from hills and woods at targets out in the open.
