    Product details

    Background & context

The North Korean People's Army in the Korean War relied on infantry tactics that followed Soviet training doctrines, closely integrating fire support with the advance of rifle squads. Mortars and machine guns formed the tactical backbone at the platoon level, making it possible to at least partially compensate for superior American and UN firepower. The command element coordinated the deployment of these support weapons and was crucial for the cohesion of the combat units. North Korean units were considered well-trained and aggressive in the early phase of the conflict.

    On the tabletop

Four HQ figures, a medium mortar and a medium machine gun with six crew in total reinforce your North Korean platoons in Bolt Action. The machine gun lays down fire on advancing infantry, while the mortar lobs rounds at enemies in trenches and behind cover. The KPA was organised and trained on the Soviet pattern, and its cadre had served in the Red Army and in China. In the summer of 1950 such units pushed the South Korean and American forces back to the Pusan Perimeter.
