    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    The Chinese People's Volunteer Army (PVA) intervened in the Korean War in the autumn of 1950, bringing with them proven tactics from the civil war: concentrated infantry attacks with high rates of fire, often at night and at close range. Dedicated SMG groups were an integral part of company organization and served as scouts, security details, and assault elements in attacks. Their armament was highly mixed - in addition to Soviet PPShs, American Thompson submachine guns from World War II stocks were also used, a typical reflection of the PVA's pragmatic procurement practices.

    SMG squads are particularly well-suited on the tabletop for aggressive close-quarters scenarios where high firepower at short range is crucial.
