    Product details

    Background & context

The Chinese People's Volunteer Army openly entered the Korean War in October 1950, fundamentally altering the course of the war. The ordinary infantrymen were equipped with a mix of captured Soviet weapons, Czechoslovak designs, and older Chinese rifles. The ZB vz. 26 light machine gun dated back to the interwar period and was produced under license in China, while the PPSh-41 submachine gun was only issued to individual soldiers. The PVA's tactical doctrine relied heavily on night operations, infiltration, and massed coordinated infantry assaults.

    On the tabletop

As the basic squad of a Chinese army in the Korean War, you field ten men under a corporal in Bolt Action. The locally made ZB vz. 26 serves as the light machine gun and gives the squad firepower at range. Most of the men shoot with the Hanyang 88, while a few carry the Soviet PPSh-41 for close quarters, although submachine guns remained uncommon. That lets you hold trenches or advance on enemy positions.
