Background & context

Numidien war das Reitervolk Nordafrikas, seine leichte Kavallerie hatte schon Hannibal und später Rom den Ausschlag in Schlachten gegeben. Juba I. regierte dort, als der Bürgerkrieg zwischen Caesar und Pompeius die Provinzen erfasste. Nach der Niederlage bei Thapsus 46 v. Chr. endete seine Herrschaft, Numidien wurde römische Provinz, und sein kleiner Sohn Juba II. wuchs als Gefangener in Rom auf.

On the tabletop

Juba I leads your Numidian army or a Numidian contingent fighting beside the Pompeians as commander in Hail Caesar. The Roman civil war in Africa offers the scenarios: first his victory over Caesar's envoy Curio, then Thapsus in 46 BC, where he was defeated together with Scipio. Numidia provided the light cavalry that had already decided battles for Hannibal and later for Rome, so on the table you rely on fast horsemen. The figure is metal.
