Product details

Background & context

The Type 97 Chi-Ha was the most widely built Japanese medium tank, yet it was soon outclassed by American armour. On the Pacific islands the defenders therefore placed their vehicles in prepared positions more and more often, with only the turret and gun showing above the earth bank. On Iwo Jima in 1945 General Kuribayashi had the tanks of the island garrison built into the defences this way, turning a mobile vehicle into a bunker that was hard to hit.

On the tabletop

Drive a Chi-Ha or any other small to medium tank, of whatever nation, into the emplacement. If more than half of the vehicle is hidden from the attacker, Bolt Action treats it as being in hard cover. Unlike a dug-in tank it keeps its mobility and can pull out when artillery starts landing on the position. With two of these you can switch between prepared positions during the game.
