While the Imperial Japanese Army was slow to adopt assault rifles, the Empire surprised the world as the first faction to issue mass-produced Rift weapons to its standard troops: Japanese scientists and engineers created the Type-10 Shiboru-Compression-Rifle. So-called 'Type A' squads are the first to be equipped with this weapon, finally giving Japanese infantry significant ranged firepower - beyond the traditional tactics of the Banzai charge.
