    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    The Scorpio was a light torsion artillery piece assigned to each Roman centuria. With a rate of fire of up to four shots per minute, it fired heavy bolts with such force that neither shields nor armor offered sufficient protection. In pitched battles, the Scorpiones of a legion were grouped into batteries and positioned on elevated ground to decimate enemy formations before the infantry engaged in close combat. The device was considered a technological superiority of Rome over most adversaries during the Imperial era.

    Einsatz im Spiel

    Imperial Romans: The plastic Scorpion serves as a war machine or artillery support for Roman forces of the early Imperial period and Roman expansion in Hail Caesar. In the game, it controls lines of fire, forces enemy formations to move, and supports its own line from a safe position. The model needs infantry protection because its value lies primarily in positional play, range, and scenario pressure.
