    Product details

    Background & context

Even the most disciplined legion paid its price: in the Teutoburg Forest in AD 9, three legions were lost entirely, and even victories such as the battle against Boudicca cost hundreds of men. The imperial army had a remarkably modern answer to this, with camp hospitals, field surgeons and medics who pulled the wounded out of the line while the fighting was still going on. Anyone putting Rome against the barbarians on the gaming table today can use a few casualties to show that the legion was not invincible.

    On the tabletop

Twelve fallen legionaries and auxiliaries of the imperial era bring the marks of battle to your table. In Hail Caesar and Clash of Spears they serve as casualty markers next to weakened units or as an objective. On scenic bases alongside fighting figures they tell the story of an engagement. They do not fight as a unit of their own. They suit games set in the Teutoburg Forest or during the revolt of Boudicca, for example.
