Product details

Background & context

The Hungarian Gendarmerie, known as the Csendőrség, was originally a paramilitary law enforcement agency with jurisdiction primarily in rural areas. As Hungary entered the war, these units were increasingly deployed to the front and fought alongside regular army units. Their distinctive feature was the striking bowler hat with feather ornamentation, which visually distinguished them clearly from ordinary infantrymen. The motto of the Csendőrség - Híven, Becsülettel, Vitézül (Faithfully, Honorably, Gallantly) - reflected the high standards of discipline and combat morale that these units attempted to uphold in wartime.

On the tabletop

You recognise the Hungarian Gendarmerie, the Csendőrség, at once by their feather-trimmed hats. Originally the force kept order mainly in rural areas, but after Hungary entered the war it fought more and more often alongside the army. In Bolt Action you field the ten men as a rifle squad: the NCO leads with a submachine gun, the light machine gun fires at range and eight riflemen take and hold objectives. An order die and bases are included.
