    Product details

    Background & context

The Hungarian border guards were a specialized formation originally established for monitoring national borders in peacetime. In the event of war, these units were tasked with securing strategically important mountain passes and difficult-to-access border sections. For this purpose, they were equipped with comparatively dense firepower that far exceeded that of regular infantry units. As part of the Hungarian armed forces, they operated alongside the Axis powers, undertaking tasks that required both resilience and local topographical knowledge.

    On the tabletop

In peacetime the Hungarian Border Guards patrolled the country's borders; in war they provided fortress companies for key mountain passes. For that they had more anti-infantry weapons than usual, so besides an NCO with a submachine gun and a light machine gun this squad also carries a flamethrower. It clears buildings and positions at close range, while the machine gun covers the ground in front. In Bolt Action you add the Border Guards to an engineer platoon.
