    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    The light chariots of the Hittites and their Anatolian allies were a central element of Bronze Age warfare in the Near East. Built lighter than the later three-man heavy chariots of the Hittite Empire, these two-man vehicles could maneuver quickly and threaten flanks. They were used in both early Hittite and Hittite Empire armies and also served other central Anatolian peoples such as the Gasgans. The chariot's construction, consisting of a wooden frame completely covered with animal hide, as well as the characteristic 6-spoke wheels, are typical of this Bronze Age era. Chariots of this type also played a significant role in the famous double battle of Kadesh against Egypt.

    Hittite light chariot III is used in Hail Caesar as a chariot or chariot warfare element for Hittite and Anatolian Bronze Age armies. In the game, it combines movement, ranged or close combat options, and psychological pressure on flanks or light troops. Chariot models should be interpreted as mobile support and scenario elements, not simply as regular cavalry.
