Product details

Background & context

The heavy chariots of the Hittite Empire were the backbone of the Hittite battle formation in the Late Bronze Age. Unlike the light Egyptian chariots, the Hittite vehicles carried a three-man crew consisting of a driver, a spearman, and another fighter. In the famous Battle of Kadesh (approx. 1274 BC), thousands of such chariots met the chariots of the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramesses II.

On the tabletop

At Kadesh on the Orontes in 1274 BC, Hittite and Egyptian chariot corps clashed, and this heavy chariot belongs on the Hittite side. The model consists of three crew figures, two horses and the sturdy metal chariot body. The Hittites traded agility for mass, and their chariot drives into the enemy line with spears. In Hail Caesar you field it as a shock unit and support it with the light chariots of the range.
