Background & context

Keltische Heere lebten vom ersten Ansturm: Wer die feindliche Linie nicht sofort brach, hatte ein Problem. Die Gaesatae aus dem Alpenraum kämpften nackt bis auf Waffen und Torques und traten als bezahlte Elite an - 225 v. Chr. bei Telamon gegen Rom, später unter Hannibal in Italien. Der Streitwagen hielt sich bei den Britanniern noch Jahrhunderte, auf dem Kontinent diente er vor allem den Häuptlingen als schneller Weg an die Front.

On the tabletop

Gallic armies staked everything on the first charge, and this Hail Caesar Epic Battles sprue supplies the troops for it. Three strips of Celtic infantry and two strips of Gaesatae, who fought naked but for weapons and torcs as paid elite warriors, form your assault wedge. Five skirmishers with javelins and five with bows open the fighting, while five light and five medium horsemen move onto the flanks. A war chariot with crew and a chieftain on foot lead the horde.
