    Product details

    Background & context

The Hawker Typhoon was originally designed as a low- and medium-altitude interceptor in World War II and entered service early in the war. Technical teething problems severely marred its introduction and initially took a heavy toll. Only after extensive modifications was the aircraft able to unleash its full potential - and that in a completely different role than planned. As a low-level fighter-bomber, the Typhoon became one of the most effective Allied combat aircraft on the Western Front, feared for its ability to destroy armored vehicles and supply lines.

    On the tabletop

The Hawker Typhoon found its role not as an interceptor but as a fighter-bomber, adding bombs or rockets under the wings to its four 20 mm cannon. You build the six aircraft with either bombs or rockets, and the matching Bomb Shackles and Air-to-Surface Rockets equipment cards are included. In Blood Red Skies you therefore use the RAF squadron against ground targets, for example over Normandy in 1944, backed by the Great Dive and Heavy Hitter traits.
