    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    The Hawker Typhoon was originally designed as a low- and medium-altitude interceptor in World War II and entered service early in the war. Technical teething problems severely marred its introduction and initially took a heavy toll. Only after extensive modifications was the aircraft able to unleash its full potential - and that in a completely different role than planned. As a low-level fighter-bomber, the Typhoon became one of the most effective Allied combat aircraft on the Western Front, feared for its ability to destroy armored vehicles and supply lines.

    Einsatz im Spiel

    In the game, the Hawker Typhoon Squadron represents a complete Blood Red Skies squadron. The squadron is suitable for air combat with low-level attacks, fighter-bomber pressure, and support over the battlefield; its strengths should be deliberately leveraged in scenarios around the Western Front and Normandy. For Great Britain, it provides a thematically clear choice that can be used directly with the appropriate cards, bases, and markers.
