Product details

Background & context

Ruins were already part of everyday life in antiquity. Sanctuaries lost their patrons, earthquakes took their roofs, and anyone who needed building material fetched it from the nearest abandoned site. In Sicily and southern Italy Greek temples already stood half decayed in the landscape at the time of the Punic Wars - sacred ground that commanders avoided or occupied for that very reason.

On the tabletop

With fallen columns and bare masonry, this ruined temple forms the centrepiece of an ancient battlefield in Hail Caesar Epic Battles. Put it in the middle of the table, where it blocks sight, offers cover and serves as an objective for both armies. Ruined sanctuaries were common even in antiquity, such as the Greek temples of Sicily and southern Italy. The resin model comes unpainted.
