Product details

Background & context

The Punic Wars were among the most severe trials for the early Roman Republic - a decades-long struggle for power with Carthage for supremacy in the western Mediterranean. On both sides stood generals of historical significance who decisively shaped the strategy and warfare of their era. Rome responded to the threat posed by Carthaginian forces with a generation of highly talented generals who prepared the way for later campaigns and the expansion of the empire. These men stood at the head of a rising state that was on the verge of fundamentally reshaping the ancient world.

On the tabletop

Nine figures give your Roman Republican army its leadership in Epic Battles and Hail Caesar: Scipio Africanus, Publius Cornelius Scipio, Claudius Nero, Varro and Sempronius Longus, plus two signiferi, a praeco with attendants and a servant. The generals lead your legions as commanders while the attendants dress up the command bases. Scenarios include the Trebia with Sempronius Longus, Cannae with Varro, the Metaurus with Claudius Nero and North Africa with Scipio Africanus. The figures are cast in Warlord Resin.
