Background & context

Karthago führte seine Kriege mit fremden Händen. Die Bürgerschaft selbst stellte kaum Soldaten, dafür kaufte und verbündete sie sich quer durchs Mittelmeer: iberische Scutarii mit der gebogenen Falcata, libysche Bauern als schwere Phalanx, numidische Reiter ohne Zaumzeug, die kamen und verschwanden, wie es ihnen passte. Hannibal formte aus diesem Flickenteppich in Italien ein Heer, das Rom über ein Jahrzehnt lang nicht aus dem Land bekam.

On the tabletop

This grey sprue holds a cross-section of Hannibal's army: a base each of Spanish Scutarii and Libyan heavy infantry, one Numidian skirmisher on foot and one mounted, a base of Liby-Phoenician heavy cavalry and a mounted commander. In Hail Caesar Epic Battles you use it to bolster your Carthaginian battle line or to start a new army. The Libyans form the heavy centre while the Numidians skirmish in front. Bases are sold separately.
