Product details

Background & context

A Roman army carried its daily routine with it: the marching camp was laid out to the same plan every evening, and the general's tent always stood in the same place. Before battle a haruspex examined the entrails of the sacrificial animals, and a bad omen could postpone an entire attack. Scouts and deserters were part of it too, for in the war against Carthage information was often worth more than another cohort.

On the tabletop

Use these five resin scenes in Hail Caesar or Epic Battles as command stands and objectives. The Roman general's headquarters and the interrogation of a spy mark your commander's position behind the line. Set up the haruspex reading the omens, the commander's tent and the desert well as objectives to fight over. The scenes suit campaigns between Rome and Carthage.
